To cover the liturgical celebrations of the sacraments of the Catholic Church (Christian initiation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Order and Matrimony), as well as some specific liturgical rites (Christian Funeral and Dedication of Church and Altar), including the respective history, theology, symbolic expression, structure, spirituality and pastoral; To explain the historical evolution of the main celebrations of the Christian liturgy, taking into account the biblical, patristic and the Magisterium sources, and the influence and implications in the current Christian liturgy arising from the reception of Vatican II; To familiarize students with the different liturgical instruments, including current liturgical books for the various celebrations, as well as the respective structure of the celebrations; To present briefly the theology, spirituality and pastoral care of many current liturgical celebrations.
