Meeting on “The issue of Islamophobia in Portugal”

Camila Arêas, CITER collaborator, coordinates, together with José Mapril, a team of researchers from CECC – UCP and CRIA – NOVA, within the scope of a transnational research project entitled “Media and erudite Islamophobia: a transnational study of discourses and their impact”.

As part of the project, on the 9th of June, a meeting was held around the research project – “The question of islamophobia in Portugal”, which aimed to present the results of the first stage of the study on Islamophobia in the Portuguese media field from of the discursive analysis of the main national newspapers.

The initiative is coordinated by Abdelwahed Mekki-Berrada (University of Laval, Québec), and is funded by the Conseil de Recherches en Sciences umaines (CRSH) of Canada.
