- It teaches the student to approach scientifically the most important canonical part of the Hebrew Bible and of the Christian Old Testament, called Pentateuch.

- It makes him to acquire knowledge in the use of hermeneutic tools, in order to understand what the first five books of the Bible intended to mean.

- The student learns how to read/interpret the biblical text with scientific criteria, with the exegetical methods, diachronic and synchronic.

- In that way, he feels more easily that the religious text can illuminate life of today’s man.
