SÉRGIO DIAS BRANCO is Assistant Professor of Film Studies at the University of Coimbra, where he directs the MA in Art Studies and coordinates LIPA - Laboratory for Investigating and Practicing Art. He taught at Nova University of Lisbon and at the University of Kent, where he was awarded a PhD in Film Studies. He is researcher at the Centre of 20th Century Interdisciplinary Studies (CEIS20) at the University of Coimbra, where he co-coordinates the group “Art Trends and Intellectual Movements” and coordinates the research network FID: Film and Interreligious Dialogue. He is currently developing research on contemporary cinema and the theological virtues for the MA in Theology at Durham University. He is President of the Direction Board of AIM - Association of Moving Image Researchers. He is the co-editor of Conversations: The Journal of Cavellian Studies, published by the University of Ottawa. He is the author of Por Dentro das Imagens: Obras de Cinema, Ideias do Cinema [Within Images: Film Works, Cinema Ideas] (Documenta, 2016) and Escrita em Movimento: Apontamentos Críticos sobre Filmes [Writing in Motion: Critical Notes on Films] (Documenta, 2020).
