Theology, Values and Social Dynamics (TVSD)

Sofia Cardetas Beato is a PhD student of History and Culture of Religions, Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. She has a Master in History and Culture of Religions from the same Faculty (dissertation entitled Sacrifice in the religion of Israel in the 8th century BC: the prophetic view) and an Undergraduate in History from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra.
Other recent activities of academic curriculum are some lectures in Congresses/ Symposium, some articles, among which (in Portuguese) “The ‘Land of the Bible’ of the First Testament: building of a religious space” (CADMO, University of Lisbon), “The teaching of Hebrew in Portugal and its place in university humanitas” (Journal of History of Society and Culture, University of Coimbra), the critical recension of E Deus Criou o Mundo of Carlos Quevedo (Journal of History of Ideas, University of Coimbra) and some teaching in academic context. These lectures are in line with their research interests: «The study of Hebrew Bible as historical space: Methodological stances and commitments to biblical knowledge»; «Israel: photographic journey and its historical and religious context; current academic study of History of Religions in Portugal; key historical changes in Judaism and its researchers»; «Post-Vedic Hinduism, Buddhist thought and the problematic classification of religions». Sofia also worked at the Academy for the Meeting of Cultures and Religions of the University of Coimbra (founded in 2020) and she took part in the Commission for New Pedagogical Dynamics from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra.
