Luísa Maria Almendra earned a PhD in Biblical Theology in sapiential studies with her work titled: ‘Um debate sobre o conhecimento de Deus. Composição e interpretação de Jb 32-37A' [‘Debate on the Knowledge of God. Composition and understanding of Jb 32-37']. She has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Theology, UCP - Portuguese Catholic University, in the Biblical Studies department since 1997. She teaches Old and New Testaments studies and also biblical languages (Hebrew). She's a member of ABP - the Portuguese Bible Association as well as various biblical associations such as: the International Society for the Study of Biblical and Semitic Rhetoric (RBS); L'Association Catholique Française pour l'Étude de la Bible (ACFEB) and Society of Biblical Literature (SBL). She has presented these associations with the most significant results of her main areas of research: the Wisdom of Israel (The Book of Job) and the Semitic Biblical Rhetoric Analysis. She is the coordinator of the Integrated master's degree in Theology course and collaborates with UNICAP - Pernambuco Catholic University, where she teaches Old and New Testament studies. She was a guest lecturer at ICT - Institut Catholique de Toulouse in 2016.
