José Rui Teixeira was born in Porto, in 1974. After taking his degree in Theology at the Portuguese Catholic University (Porto), he concluded his Masters degree in Philosophy and his PHd in Literature, both at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. He developed a post-doc project in Literature and Philosophy of Religion at Portuguese Catholic University (Braga). He is the president of the Scientifical Council of the Cátedra Poesia e Transcendência of the Portuguese Catholic University (Porto). He is also working as a researcher in the Centre of Philosophical and Humanistic Studies at the Portuguese Catholic University (Braga) and at the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur les Mondes Ibériques Contemporains at the University of Sorbonne, in Paris. He is currently a member of the Scientifical Council of the Instituto Superior de Pensamiento Iberioamericano of the Universidad Pontificia of Salamanca and of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Literatura y Teología. He is a teacher and holds the position of Headmaster in the Colégio Luso-Francês, a private catholic school in Porto.
