Member of the Franciscan Order since 1985, he completed his pre-university education at the Franciscan Order seminary. After obtaining a first degree in Theology at the Faculty of Theology, UCP - Portuguese Catholic University (1990), he continued his studies in Rome between 1990 and 1994 and specialised in Patristic Sciences at the Augustinian Patristic Institute. During the 1993-1994 academic year, he took the initiation course in Christian Archaeology at the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology. He also studied at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome (1997-1998). He completed a PhD in Patristic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Since 2000 he teaches at the UCP Faculty of Theology. He has promoted the translation and study of the "classics of ancient Christianity," with numerous articles and books published on Christianity of the origins and patristic literature. He was, between 2013 and 2018, director of the theological Review Didaskalia and constitutes the editorial team of the new Journal Ephata. He is also Director of the Franciscan Revew Itinerarium. He has published many articles and several books on Christianity of the origins and the patristic literature, among which we highlight the most recent: Sim Cremos. He is a Correspondent Member of the International Association of Patristic Studies (IAPS) and a member of the Faculty of Theology Direction, where he is Coordinator of MIT.
