Research line: The Performativities and Aesthetics of Religion (PAR)

Born on March 25, 1964 in Monção. 1996 PhD at Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule Sankt Georgen, Frankfurt, Germany, with a thesis on the theological reception of Gadamer's philosophy of art, under Jörg Splett, as a Fellow of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Since 1996 he is a lecturer at the Faculty of Theology of UCP (Braga, Oporto and Lisbon). He has been a Full Professor since 2013 and is a guest lecturer at the Faculdade de Filosofia (Braga). He lectured at the School of Arts (Porto) of the Portuguese Catholic University, and at the Compostela Theological Institute, an aggregate of the Pontifical University of Salamanca. He is coordinator of the Doctoral Course on Religious Studies of the UCP.

Since 2007, he is Director of the Braga Section of the Faculty of Theology. Since 2011, he is President of the Regional Center of Braga of the Portuguese Catholic University. He is member of the Research Center in Theology and Religion Studies (UCP Faculty of Theology) and the Center for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of UCP) and a guest researcher in the Graduate Program in Science of Religion of the Pontifical University of São Paulo. He is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal Theologica, Braga, and of the Scientific Councils of the Journals Teologia, Milan, and Salmanticensis, Salamanca, and of the Editorial Board of the collection Perconoscenza, Editora EDB of Bologna.
