Theology, Values and Social Dynamics (TVSD)

The general aim of the TVSD research line is to study religious phenomena and communities by examining their theological self-representations, axiological configurations and social dynamics. In this way, the object of study is approached, on one hand, by promoting interdisciplinary research (in theology, religious studies, philosophy, ethics, sociology, anthropology, psychology, etc.) and on the other, through critical analyses of the logic how religious phenomena represent themselves and the ways in which beliefs are made manifest.

In pursuing this general aim, TVSD involves work groups dedicated to scientific studies that focus on the interface between religious self-representation and living expressions of beliefs. These groups are always comprised of CITER researchers (with their range of expertise) and are open to collaborations with outside researchers (both Portuguese and foreign).
