1. To understand the impact of the French Revolution and the Liberal regimes of the 19th century on Christianity.

2. To characterize the institutional and religious fragility of 19th century Christianity, as well as the religious renewal dynamics identified in it.

3. To understand the position of Christianity before the modernity in the context of the theology, the Magisterium, and the pastoral life.

4. To master the problem of the worldwide expansion of Christianity from the 19th century awakening to the formation and organization of local churches.

5. To understand the positions of Christianity, both in its leadership and in its believers, before the political and military developments of the 20th century.

6. To know the ecclesial renewal of the 20th century in its origin and developments.
